Expanding Care and Research to Improve Lives of Children with Neuromuscular Disorders in Leeds Proposal to sustain the clinical and research activity of the children’s Neuromuscular (NM) service in Leeds, whilst securing engagement of the service with national initiatives to promote best possible patient care A2003206 The Leeds Children’s Neuromuscular service, a national centre of excellence for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), this investment will be used to expand clinical and research capacity. This includes dedicated consultant time and a Clinical Trials Coordinator to support complex clinical trials, including advanced gene therapy studies. The investment strengthens Leeds’ leadership in Neuromuscular research, enhances patient care, and increases trial recruitment. Duchenne UK has partnered in this initiative, matching the funding to support ongoing advancements. These roles will enable increased trial activity, improved patient experiences, and important research outputs.
