Understanding how bones sense healing signals to improve recovery after fractures Role of Piezo1 in mechanotransduction in Mesenchymal Stromal Cells A2003213 This project studies Piezo1, a protein on bone stem cells that helps bones sense mechanical forces and heal properly. While important in animal bone repair, its role in humans isn’t well understood. The research will test how mechanical stress affects Piezo1 and bone healing in human stem cells. Findings could lead to new treatments for bone healing problems like non-union and osteoporosis.
