Using a digital tool to better support patients with challenging behaviours and help them get home sooner Trial and implementation of Melo App onto the Complex Rehabilitation Ward (C1) A2003249 This project assesses Melo, a digital tool that captures and shares real-time data on challenging behaviours in neurorehabilitation wards. By improving communication and monitoring, Melo supports personalised care plans, helps reduce hospital stays, and lowers the risk of serious incidents. Anonymised ward data also aids managers in predicting service demand and enabling smarter discharge decisions. Building on successful use at other NHS trusts, Melo is being tailored for Leeds Teaching Hospitals with plans for wider national adoption. The platform aims to improve patient care, staff wellbeing, and operational efficiency, with potential to extend to other clinical areas like dementia. Recent approval from LTHT’s IT and governance teams has enabled project progress and collaboration among clinical and academic partners.
