Improving Cancer Outcomes in Leeds 25/26 Funding Call

We invited applications across two levels:

  • Standard Applications: £75 - £10,000
  • Standard Applications: £10,001 - £25,000

We were interested in receiving applications that:

  • Had the potential to improve cancer outcomes of people living in Leeds within a 12 – 18-month timeframe.
  • Aligned to one of the following themes:
    • Person-centred care including holistic and clinical care
    • Screening, prevention and awareness
    • Earlier diagnosis

The funding opportunity was open to all staff at Leeds Teaching Hospitals across all Clinical Service Units and Departments within both medical and non-medical roles, including staff employed by academic partners who hold an honorary contract with Leeds Teaching Hospitals.


Overview:

We received a total of 6 applications for the Improving Cancer Outcomes in Leeds 25/26 Funding Call across both levels:

Standard applications: £75 - £10,000

  • We received 2 applications for funding between £75- £10,000. Both were approved at Small Grants Panel in February 2026 totaling £8,381.08.

Standard applications: £10,001 - £25,000

  • We received 4 applications for funding between £10,001 - £25,000. 3 were approved at Funding Committee in February 2026 totaling £53,998.80.

Across both funding levels

  • The funding awarded supported 3 of the Funding Priorities: Education, Equipment and Health and Wellbeing.
  • The projects align with 2 different impact areas of focus: Health Inequalities - Cancer Care & End of Life care
  • 6 applications received across 3 CSUs

Funding to purchase Vaultstream software licence with EPR integration to securely capture naso-endoscopy images and videos directly into patient records.

Funding to purchase RadCalc Brachytherapy Module and Support for software for additional year.

Holistic palliative care support, combining symptom management and family support, purchasing equipment to improve comfort and enable earlier discharge to a patient’s preferred place of care.

Patient centred Melanoma Education videos to aid patient understanding and decision making in their cancer care 

Funding to develop a comprehensive series of patient-focused melanoma education videos that address key stages of diagnosis, treatment, and self-management

Health & Wellbeing

Comfort Care Packs 

Purchasing and distribution of 1,040 comfort care bags. To be given to the relatives of end of life care adult patients.
