Post-procedure, some patients may experience a recurrence of symptoms and struggle to access medical care for diagnosis and treatment planning. To address this, Dr Ramesh Nadarajah and the team are implementing the FibriCheck smartphone app for patients after their heart rhythm procedure. This app allows patients to monitor their heart rate, rhythm, and symptoms. If symptoms arise, patients can record their heart rhythm for review by doctors, enabling clinicians to assess the success of the surgery and determine the next steps in care. This process can be managed without the patient needing to return to the hospital for further tests. The FibriCheck app has been successfully used in other large hospitals across the country. This project aims to evaluate its effectiveness in Leeds, focusing on improving access to care, reducing the burden of hospital visits, and making care more patient-centred. The ultimate goal is to enhance patient care, save physicians' time, and create cost savings for Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
