Studying how the liver regrows after surgery to help more patients recover safely PIEZO1 in Liver Regeneration: Activation in scenarios of liver ischaemia, small for size syndrome, changes in portal vein flow and ultrasound treatment. Variations of PIEZO1 expression in different ethnic backgrounds. A2003260 This study examines how the liver regenerates after major surgery, focusing on the protein PIEZO1, which detects changes in blood flow and may trigger regeneration. Tissue samples from patients undergoing liver surgery are analysed to identify key genes involved in the regeneration process. The goal is to improve understanding of liver regrowth, predict which patients will recover well, and develop better treatments to prevent liver failure after surgery. Early results show successful patient recruitment and sample analysis. Findings will inform surgical care.
