"We greatly appreciate the generosity of our wedding guests who wholeheartedly embraced the cause and donated so willingly."

Last year, Mark and Jan Butters made their wedding day unforgettable by pledging it to Leeds Hospitals Charity in support of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Appeal. Instead of traditional gifts, they asked their guests for donations - raising an impressive £600 – and are sharing their story to inspire others to do the same.

The couple shared their heartfelt reasons:

“Having been active throughout our whole lives, both Janet, my wife, and I couldn’t imagine what it must be like to suddenly lose this most simple of pleasures.

The humility and ‘Can Do’ attitude shown by Rob and the entire Burrow family following Rob’s MND diagnosis is something that only a very special few are capable of, truly inspirational. Knowing the brutality of MND and the years of underfunding related to it, for us it was an easy decision to use our wedding day to try and raise some funds to help.

We greatly appreciate the generosity of our wedding guests who wholeheartedly embraced the cause and donated so willingly. We hope in some small way we have helped in not just finding a cure for MND but also to support those currently suffering and those clinical staff that fight every day to make lives better often without the tools or funding necessary.

We send our best wishes and heartfelt support to all who have and are continuing to make a difference; to the Burrow family, you’re simply amazing.”

An enormous thank you and congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Butters!
