Charitable funding enabled Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to purchase equipment that will ensure it leads the way in health technologies and innovation.
At Leeds Children’s Hospital, a new Paediatric Retinal Camera will aid the diagnosis of retinal disorders and improve surgical planning.
Two new pieces of equipment, i-STAT and PICCOLO, will provide point-of-care testing for potential transplant organs. This means that more organs can potentially be accepted, ultimately allowing more patients to receive lifesaving transplants and improve their quality of life.
Other pieces of equipment can directly improve patients’ experience of their treatment. For instance, improvements such as reclining chairs and scalp coolers for J80, the Oncology Day Case Unit. Other items such as a bank of spare clothes in radiology, and comfort care packs for the relatives of dying patients, enhance dignity and care for patients and their families.
