Welcome to our quarterly update

As we embrace the arrival of spring, we are delighted to share our second quarterly update for 2025, covering the impactful initiatives and events from January to March. We are grateful for the amazing and continued support from you - our wonderful corporate partners. You are helping to improve the lives of patients, their families and staff who visit and work across the NHS hospitals in Leeds. THANK YOU!

In this update, we highlight the advancements in patient care, the success of our fundraising campaigns, and the exciting events that have brought joy and hope to many. We are also thrilled to welcome new corporate partners who have joined us in improving the lives of patients, their families, and staff who visit and work at the NHS hospitals in Leeds.

The difference your support makes:

Cardiac Ultrasound "Echo" Scanner

Thanks to the support of our corporate partners, over £90,000 was committed to fund a second cardiac ultrasound machine for the NIHR Clinical Research Facility at Leeds General Infirmary. This 'echo' machine supports over 50 active heart disease trials, benefiting thousands of patients annually. It enhances diagnosis, treatment, and research, helping Leeds become a national hub for echocardiography and clinical cardiac science research.

New Playroom at Leeds Children’s Hospital

Thanks to the generosity of corporate donors and community supporters, £20,000 was raised to create a dedicated play space on Ward L38 at Leeds Children’s Hospital. This new playroom will provide a calming environment for children like George with complex respiratory and medical needs, promoting recovery, independence, and emotional resilience, ensuring every child feels cared for and valued.

Neonatal Units: Beads of Courage

Staff and families have come together to support Leeds Hospitals Charity in a parent-led fundraising drive, aiming to raise £5,000 for the Beads of Courage programme. Vicki Randall, who spent 16 weeks in hospital with her son Leo, found solace in the programme, which helps children tell their treatment stories with symbolic beads. Leo, now healthy, has a treasured collection of beads representing his journey and strength.

Corporate engagement at Fletchers Solicitors

On 18th February, our Corporate Team had an exciting visit to Fletchers Solicitors' Leeds office. This was a fantastic opportunity to connect with their enthusiastic staff, introduce Leeds Hospitals Charity, and showcase the incredible impact of their support.

We had vibrant conversations with team members, exploring how they can get involved in upcoming events and appeals. This interaction helped build a stronger connection and deepen our relationship with Fletchers Solicitors.

Fashion show at The Waterfront Cafe

On Friday 21st March, The Waterfront Cafe at York Marina, in collaboration with New You Fashion from Barnsley, organised a fabulous fashion show to raise funds for the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) at Seacroft Hospital.

In addition to the stunning fashion show, guest also participated in a raffle. The event raised an impressive £2,500 for the Rob Burrow Centre. We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Waterfront Cafe, New You Fashion, and all the attendees for their incredible support. Together, we are making a significant impact in the fight against MND.

The Square Ball raise thousands with annual calendar

Leeds United fanzine and podcast, The Square Ball raised £7,500 for Leeds Hospitals Charity through sales of their seventh annual calendar, featuring illustrations of cult players born in each month of the year. Over 1,000 copies were sold, with proceeds supporting Leeds Cancer Centre and the Breast Cancer Research Action Group. This funding aids life-saving equipment, rare disease research, and initiatives that bring hope to patients and families. This outstanding support is testament to Leeds United fans' generosity and commitment to their community. Thanks to all who purchased a calendar for making a real impact.

Leeds Children’s Hospital Charity Ball

Saturday 13th September 2025

Mark your calendars for the Leeds Children’s Hospital Charity Ball! This annual event is known for its delicious dining and fabulous entertainment, creating an unforgettable evening of fundraising in support of our smallest patients. We have amazing opportunities for you to get involved, whether through sponsorship or by purchasing a table. Tickets are priced at £110 per person and include a delicious three-course dinner, drinks reception, and live entertainment.

Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon Relay

Sunday 11th May 2025

If you've always wanted to run a marathon but weren't sure you could complete the distance alone, then running as part of a team of seven might be the answer!

The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon is about more than just running, it’s about running together with mates, for a mate.

This relay event allows you and your team to share the marathon distance, making it accessible for those who may not be ready to complete a full marathon on their own.

Leeds 10K 2025

Sunday 15th June 2025

Join us for the Leeds 10K on Sunday, June 15th, 2025, starting at the Parkinson Building, University of Leeds. This iconic event has grown to become one of the highlights of the city's events calendar, attracting thousands of participants of all abilities.

Whether you're aiming for a personal best or simply want to enjoy the day, the Leeds 10K offers a fantastic atmosphere and a scenic route through the city's historic landmarks. The event is inclusive and supported, making it unforgettable for all runners.
