In this update, we highlight some memorable fundraising moments, share our upcoming events, and welcome our new corporate partner. The difference your support makes: Charity reaches fundraising target for Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease On December 10th, 2024, Rob Burrow’s parents, MND patients, families, the MND clinical team, and 77 fundraisers from Leeds Hospitals Charity signed the frame of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease at Seacroft Hospital. Thanks to our corporate partners and 17,000 donors, we reached the £6.8 million target for construction. Leeds Hospitals Charity will continue fundraising to support MND patients with equipment, a therapeutic garden, family support services, holistic therapies, and new research programs. Read more Life-sized F1 car makes special pitstop at Leeds Children’s Hospital Children, families, and staff at Leeds Children’s Hospital were thrilled when the Aston Martin Formula One Team brought their replica race car to the hospital. As part of their nationwide outreach program, Aston Martin Aramco visited five hospitals across the UK. Patients also had the chance to meet Jak Crawford, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team Young Development Driver. Read more Donations support patients across Yorkshire living with diabetes At Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Diabetes Dietitians have trained to deliver the DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) course for type 1 diabetes patients. This course helps participants self-manage their diabetes by weighing and measuring carbohydrate foods to match their insulin doses. Post-pandemic, outdated resources needed replacing and thanks to donations, we were able to fund new resources to ensure the course's high quality. The energy on the field was matched only by the generosity off it, with all proceeds supporting our Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal. Over £7,000 was raised on the day - an enormous thank you to everyone who made this event a resounding success! NECS Christmas Bake Sale: A sweet gesture of support 18th December 2024 The North of England Care System (NECS) Yorkshire & Humber team hosted a Christmas bake sale that included decadent cakes and creative cookies. The delicious treats raised £230 and brought a wonderful year-long fundraising partnership to a close, which had also seen NECS team members complete a 147ft abseil. We are deeply grateful for their support and enthusiasm throughout 2024, and we wish them a successful 2025. Greggs' festive bake for Leeds Teaching Hospitals December 2024 Greggs bakery, with support from Leeds Hospitals Charity staff, delivered a sweet gesture of gratitude to hardworking NHS Staff during December. Over 2,000 sweet treats were distributed to NHS staff, offering a small but heartfelt token of appreciation for their dedication during the festive period. We are extremely proud to work with Greggs, and help spread some seasonal kindness and gratitude to our NHS colleagues. Upcoming Events Balls to Cancer Saturday 22nd March 2025 Join us for a great evening of fun and entertainment raising funds to give all patients at Leeds Cancer Centre the chance to say "Balls to Cancer!" A table for ten will cost £750 and is a great opportunity to entertain colleagues, clients, family and friends. Run in memory of Rob in 2025 Sunday 11th May 2025 Inspired by late Leeds Rhinos hero Rob Burrow, the 2025 Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will see over 10,000 participants take on a 26.2-mile route through Leeds.
