Join Our Team Meet the Team: Staff Stories Meet the Team: Jordanna What is your name and job title? Jordanna Rix, Finance Officer Tell us about your role? I work in the finance team, predominantly on the purchase ledger side, so processing invoices, direct debits and credit cards and doing the payment run. I also help with processing income that we receive. Recently, I’ve taken on more responsibility, so I also do some of the bank reconciliation and provide general support where needed across the team. When did you join the charity? I joined the charity in October 2021. Why did you choose to join the charity? I was already working for a charity prior to working for Leeds Hospitals Charity, and I really wanted to stay within the sector. I saw this opportunity come up and I really aligned with the goals here, and knew it was going to be a great place to work. Do you see opportunities for career progression at the charity? Definitely! I am in a great position at the charity to be given the opportunity to study towards being a qualified accountant, which is something I have always wanted. On the back of this I have been given more opportunities in the finance team, and I really feel like I’m working towards being able to progress higher in the team. The charity has helped me with my own personal goals as well as progressing professionally. What do you enjoy most about working for Leeds Hospitals Charity? The thing that stands out to me the most is the people I work with; everyone is so lovely, and it really feels like you’re part of a community. The work that we do is also a huge factor, the stories and feedback we receive from people we have helped makes you realise how important it is that we do our job and it really is so fulfilling. What has been a key highlight of your time at Leeds Hospitals Charity? The thing that stands out to me the most about my time here was when Ian Flatt came in to give us a talk about his incredible fundraising efforts to raise money for the MND centre. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room. To see someone work so hard, whilst battling the disease, to raise money for the charity and be so kind and thankful to us all at the same time, will stay with me forever. Manage Cookie Preferences
