2025/2026 Research and Innovation Funding List
In partnership with Marie Curie, we have committed £150,000 to support research focusing on end-of-life and palliative care. These projects aim to improve the quality of palliative care in hospital, as well as discharge processes for those with end-of-life care needs.
Through the ASPIRER fellowships and in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust’s Research and Innovation Team, we are supporting staff across the Trust to develop their research careers, by providing dedicated time and mentoring to prepare applications for research fellowship awards. It is known that research-active hospitals have improved clinical outcomes, so this supports our patients too!
We have funded cutting-edge projects focused on both prevention and treatment, including AI-guided detection of Atrial Fibrillation after a stroke, to identify risk earlier and prevent further strokes, and studies around histotripsy, an innovative, non-invasive cancer treatment with the potential to improve outcomes.
Leeds Hospitals Charity is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities, and all research and innovation grant funding is awarded in line with its policies and principles.
The research study, which began at the end of October, uses a handheld device which measures heart function using AI, allowing staff to easily screen for heart failure within a few minutes. Read more
