2025/2026 Health and Wellbeing Funding List
The Family Support Trolley at Leeds Children’s Hospital remains a vital source of comfort for children and their families. Volunteers visit wards across the hospital several times a week, providing free of charge snacks and hot drinks, as well as a friendly face and kind word to children and their families. We are proud that this year we have committed to supporting the expansion of the trolley service to Gledhow wing, Beckett wing and Chapel Allerton Hospital.
We have supported various projects designed to improve wellbeing in our emergency departments. This includes care bags for patients with learning disabilities and autism as well as lanyards which make staff aware of patients with significant memory loss or dementia that will need enhanced support while in A&E. We have also continued to support the High Volume Service User and Health and Homeless Inclusion Teams in their project providing phones to those of no fixed abode who attend A&E. The phones are pre-loaded with essential support service numbers, with the goal of improving access to healthcare and reducing health inequalities.
Alongside patient and carer support, we also endeavour to celebrate the hard work and dedication of staff at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. This year, a Christmas ‘Spin to Win’ event took place at all hospital sites. Staff had the opportunity to spin the wheel, where all won a prize ranging from a hot drink or cupcake, to luxury spa breaks and a new coffee machine! We also continue to fund the staff room refurbishments with 10 new rooms updated this year across different sites, as well as the Welfare and Amenities fund, for smaller items which improve staff rest areas and promote better wellbeing.
