Funding Opportunities

Improving Cancer Outcomes in Leeds

Application Window: 21 October – 9 December 2025

Leeds Hospitals Charity is offering up to £150,000 to fund projects and initiatives that will have a direct impact on improving cancer outcomes of people living in Leeds over the next 12 - 18 months.

We invite applications across two levels:

  • Standard applications: £75 - £10,000
  • Standard applications: £10,001 - £25,000

Projects should align with one of the Healthy Leeds Plan themes: person-centred care, screening/prevention/awareness, or earlier diagnosis.

Any proposal must consider how it will tackle health inequalities for those patients who experience them and must in no way exacerbate already existing health inequalities.

Past funded projects include chemotherapy scalp coolers, nipple tattoo machines, and patient education videos.

Our Q2 Funding

Earlier in the year, we launched our Patient Experience funding opportunity and following a review of initial expressions of interest we invited selected applicants to make a full application. We’re pleased to share that we have approved a total of 16 applications, totalling over £214,000. These projects have the potential to impact over 69,000 people.

In addition to the open funding opportunities, we support projects through other means like specific donations, strategic funding and via our Linked Charities.

We have committed to supporting three new MND projects at The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease, ensuring this specialist centre gives people living with MND the best possible care and support.

We have provided further funding to continue to support the Patient and Volunteer Fund, which offers immediate financial support for patients or volunteers experiencing financial hardship.

These projects continue to make a difference to patients, their families and staff across Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Charity Engagement

A few weeks ago, our team at Leeds Hospitals Charity visited departments across the hospital sites, replacing collection tins and providing staff with new donation materials. We had lots of fantastic conversations with staff around fundraising ideas and how charity funding can support their wards.

We collected a total of 96 collection tins, which raised over £2000, and we placed a further 150 new tins across wards and reception areas. These donations really help us make charity funding possible and supports us with funding a range of projects that make a real difference.

We’re continuing to hold charity engagement sessions across the hospitals - these are a great chance to chat with staff from across the Trust and share details on how we can keep supporting patients, families, and staff across Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Are you aware of any upcoming meetings or opportunities that we could join?

We are always looking at ways that we can keep our NHS colleagues connected and informed of funding opportunities and charity updates. If you know of any meetings or other events that we could attend, please let us know.

Let’s work together to ensure we don’t miss out on any chances to grow and support each other.
