Statement regarding the New Hospital Programme

Statement from Esther Wakeman, Chief Executive Officer

“Here at Leeds Hospitals Charity, we echo the disappointment felt by our NHS colleagues at hearing the news of delays to the New Hospital Programme in Leeds. We have been ready and waiting to support Leeds Teaching Hospitals in the construction of a new hospital. A new hospital on the Leeds General Infirmary site would be transformational and it’s disheartening that we will have to wait even longer for this to happen.

“We know our generous donors remain keen to support the development of our hospitals, for the benefit of patients, families and staff. We will continue to work closely with the Executive Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, alongside our wider charity partners, to identify where we can provide alternative support in the interim period.”
